8 Easy Steps to a iiiD Face:

This cream makeup is so easy to use, and it’s designed with all three shades acting as “foundation”! You don’t need to layer this makeup, each shade provides coverage, so you only need to place one colour in each section.

Ready to give it a try? Let’s do it!

1.      Prep your face for Pretty

Always start with a fresh face. Good skincare is one of the best tools you can use in helping to make your makeup look better and last longer.

If you are applying a moisturizer or SPF immediately before putting on your makeup, make sure to allow about 20 minutes for it to fully soak in to the skin first.

You can choose to prime your face using a setting spray - either by spraying it directly onto the skin, or by spraying and then dabbing with the Perfector Sponge.

If you find that you have more oily skin you can use a matte-fying primer before you start.

2.      Start with a contour- get the scary part over first

Start with Contour

Start with Contour

Contour only seems scary at first, it’s actually the fun part and adds a significant amount of shaping and dimension to your face but appearing to lift and sculpt out your features.

Contour is a shade that is deeper and darker than your natural skin tone. It’s designed to create shadows and dimension and can instantly trick the eye into thinking you’ve lost a few pounds without having to do anything other than draw a few lines on your face.

Contour can be applied differently for different face types, but the most common way to apply your contour is to remember “E3”

You can use your fingers to apply the colour, or any brush you choose- The iiiD is the most popular so I’m going to walk you through it using that brush.

Squish the fluffy end of the iiiD brush to make it a thinner ‘line’.

Pick up a bit of the contour colour with the brush- a little goes a long way with this creamy and concentrated makeup.

Apply the contour on your forehead, along you hairline.

Apply the contour just under your cheekbones. The best advise is to start from where the top of your ear meets your face and draw a line to the outside edge of your pupil, curving up just slightly at the apple of your cheeks.

Apply the contour along your jawline, blending down into your neck.

When you look in the mirror it’s going to look like you’ve kinda sorta drawn an E or a 3 on your face.

If you want to slim out your nose, you can also add a little contour along both sides of your nose, tracing into your eyebrows.

3.      Apply brightening colour in a cute little anchor, and in a pie under your eye

Brightening highlight in an anchor, and a pie under the eye.

Brightening highlight in an anchor, and a pie under the eye.

I tend to do my brightener with my fingers, but you could use the pointy end of your iiiD brush

To make your anchor take your brightening shade and apply it in three little stripes between and slightly above your brows.

Run a thin line down your nose.

Put a little dab on under your nose and on your cupids bow.

Take and put a line under your chin, and in two small curving lines on either side.

To make your pie under the eye add a bit of your brightening colour in your inner and outer corners, and in a spot under your eye. When you blend this out, it will make a small triangle of lightness under your eyes.

4.      Wherever you’re bare put your main hightlight there!

Use the pointy end of your iiiD brush and pick up a bit of colour and then paint your face wherever there ISN’T already colour.

Apply along your nose, on your chin, and on your forehead.

5.    Blend Baby Blend

Using the fluffy end of your iiiD brush you can now blend out all the crazy looking colours on your face, and watch this makeup transform you, literally like magic.

I like to start with where I used my brightening shade, then blend my main highlight and finish with blending my contour- working from light to dark.

You don’t want to just drag the colour around, but rather pick up your brush in small circles and buff the colour’s together.

Then take a very slightly damp Perfector Sponge and bounce it lightly along your face. This will help blend it further AND it will pick up any excess makeup on your face!

6.      A kiss of colours on lips and cheeks

The Lip+ Cheek colours offer more bang for your buck- its two in one! A gorgeous lip colour and a blush of colour to help you look more vibrant and youthful!

You can use your finger to apply both.

A quick swipe on the lips for a beautiful pop of colour.

For your blush, place it just above your contour, on your cheek bones and blend back towards your ears with the fluffy end of the iiiD brush. Keep the blush at least one inch away from your nose, and one inch away from your eyes to help maximize the youthful lifted look.

Most people tell you to smile and place it on the apples of your cheeks- but when you do that the colour droops when you aren’t smiling (try it for yourself- smile wide and put your fingertip on the apple of your cheek. Now stop smiling and let your finger fall with your face- see?). This way the colour will give you a lovely blush of colour right where you want it!

7.      Illuminate

The last step to finish HAC’ing an illuminator creates a beautiful extra shimmery glow- bringing brightness!

Apply it with your fingertip to area’s you want to bring light to. We recommend applying it to the upper cheekbones, down the bridge of your nose, the bow of your lip and beneath the arch of your brow. Pro tip: you can use the illuminator on your eyes as a shadow, just on the inner corner of your eye for a quick brightening, or onto your lips layered with other colours!

 8.      Blend, Set, Match made in heaven!

When I’m finished I like to using our Setting Spray to lock in my makeup and I do this two different ways.

First I will spray a mist in an “X” across my face.

Second I will spray a bit onto my Perfector sponge and bounce it along my face- this helps set my makeup and helps blend it just a little bit more J

The Setting Spray gives more of a dewy finish.

If you want more of a matte look (or you find your skin is a bit more oily naturally) you can use a setting powder- either our Vanilla Dust Setting Powder or just your own setting powder AFTER you’ve used your setting spray.
